The Maryland College Institute of Art showcased a new group of talented designers at its annual benefit fashion show, Timelapse, Saturday. A number of the models took to the runway wearing student designs that represented various eras, cultures -and even a cyber paradise- taking spectators through an evolution of wardrobe.

In their ‘Welcome’ note to attendees, this year’s student directors Molly Sydnor and Natovian McLeod said the show’s theme offered “students a chance to take ideas from the past and discover how they recur in the present, while also predicting patterns for the future.”

Caprece Jackson-Garrett, cofounder of ‘Wear It Out Baltimore’ and partnering producer of the ‘Wear It Out Baltimore Fashion & Film Series’ at the Creative Alliance, hosted the two-part fundraising event, joining in on the time-changing theme with two wardrobe changes.

She welcomed the crowd in a “retro” number, while coming back for the second half donned in “futuristic” elements, including an LED-lit neck piece.

Now in its 22nd year, the show raises money to allow selected students to embark on, what is a six-month process at MICA, creating their pieces for the event.

So, arrow through for a look at some of the pieces from Timelapse.
